Christmas Chipolatas and Quiche

So G is now on holidays and we are staying put for the whole of the Christmas break, rather than flying home. My first time without my parents for Christmas and our first English Christmas.

So I guess we should try silly English things over the next week that we otherwise haven’t experienced. The shops are full of shortcuts and different things to appease Christmas traditions at the moment, so we may as well try some.

Chipolatas

First up I bought some bacon wrapped honey & rosemary pork chipolatas (something a bit short of pigs in a blanket that they seem to love here so much), which we had more as a snack pre-dinner. They were, well, ok. Basically exactly what I expected - nothing fancy here.

Next up we tried a Smoked English Bacon Quiche from Higgidy:

Quiche

I supplemented it a little with some grated mature cheddar that I had and a hit of freshly grated pepper.

It was pretty good. G & L seemed to approve. I served it with a simple salad.

Basically a night off for me, but still a fun thing to do. We’ll try and experiment a bit with whatever the shops are offering over the next week. There does seem to be an LOT of pork on offer, but I guess that is ok.
